Familiarization with amber : Jewelry(610 pages)
The sea and a pine tree. A pine tree and the sea... Strange union of nature that gave birth to the wonderful natural stone amber. If asked to tell precisely where and when amber was discovered for the first time, no one could do that. Only one thing is known, that this stone was found in different corners of the world thousands of years ago.

But if we talk about amber as a valuable, its extraction, amber jewellery, we necessarily have in mind amber of the Baltic Sea. It is not coincidence that amber is called tear of the sea. Already in ancient times people picked up amber and made ornaments. Women wore multicoloured amber necklaces, buttoned up linen or woollen coats with different brooches encrusted with natural amber.

One of the biggest treasures of amber jewellery, consisting of 433 amber items, including amulets, necklaces, brooches, beads, was found when excavating deposits of amber in Juodkrante. Like in ancient times, similarly nowadays, the cultural and aesthetic aspect of amber was closely associated with existence of the Lithuanian nation, which established a lot of amber galleries and museums. A wonderful Amber Museum was established the old manor house of Count Tiskevicius located in a most gorgeous park of Lithuania, the town of Palanga. The collection displayed therein is an ode to amber. It houses 5000 exhibits, including ancient amber ornaments and one-of-the kind amber items created by contemporary jewellers. People simply come to admire the stones of rare beauty where in each of them the time has stopped for ages. Yva Lauten blog.evatric.com/
